James Cameron CBE
James Cameron spent 25 years as an officer in the British Army, beginning as a teenage platoon commander in Northern Ireland and rising through increasingly complex NATO and command roles. His career spanned Cold War Germany, Bosnia, Croatia, Kosovo, and the Middle East, as well as senior appointments in the UK Ministry of Defense. Known for combining tactical skill with a global strategic perspective, he served as Chief of Staff to the Army Commander in Chief.
In a later counter terrorism role, James coordinated sensitive programs across governments and allied agencies in countries such as Libya, Yemen, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia—work for which he was awarded the honor of Commander of the British Empire by Her Majesty the Queen. Throughout, he developed a reputation for building leaders and strengthening high stakes organizations.
After leaving the military in 2006, James brought those skills to the private sector. His expertise in helping leaders navigate complexity and prepare for the future led to his team being acquired by Walmart Inc. For the next 12 years, he shaped leadership development at local, regional, and country levels across the globe for Walmart, working with every level of leader in that time. For the last five of those years, James brought GLA in to work with over 500 of those leaders, reshaping how Walmart see leadership and the impact they can have in the world.
In 2024, James launched his own consultancy, continuing to coach Walmart’s future C Suite and supporting leaders across many different industries. James has also joined the GLA team and is passionate about partnering with them on their diverse range of client initiatives.
He has been married to Linda for 37 years and lives in Fort Worth with his family and horses. Proud of his roots, James describes himself as Scottish by heritage, British by birth, American by choice, and Texan by destiny.
